The Fox Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Wheeled) (CVR(W)) replaced the Saladin armoured car in service with the Regular and Territorial Army reconnaissance regiments. The Fox is a 4-wheel drive armoured car with a powerful Jaguar 4.2 litre petrol engine making it one of the fastest vehicles of its type. It had a crew of three and had a low profile rotating turret armed with a 30 mm RARDEN cannon and a coaxial 7.62 mm machine-gun. Mounted to the right of the main cannon is a GEC-Marconi Defence Systems passive night sight with modes for gunnery and surveillance.
