The additional firepower provided by the 30 mm Rarden cannon gives excellent covering and support fire, especially against the enemy’s APCs and IFVs.
Like the Challenger, additional armoured packages were developed for the Warrior. The package consisted of Chobham based side skirts and appliqué armour blocks for the hull front. These increased the Warriors protection from both HEAT and kinetic energy projectiles and warheads.
The new Warrior infantry fighting vehicles are much faster and better-armed than the old FV432 APCs. The improved speed and mobility provided by the Warrior allows the squaddies of the Staffords’ mechanised platoons to keep pace with the new Challenger tanks.
