The 7.5 cm Pak 40 formed the backbone of German anti-tank guns for the latter part of World War II, able to penetrate almost all Allied armour at battlefield ranges, and was used in most theatres.
While the size of this field gun cut down on its mobility, the power and effectiveness of its 75mm x 714mm R ammunition made it devastating against most vehicles the Allies could bring to bear on the battlefield. When crewed by professionals like the Fallschirmjager, the PaK 40 was a dire threat to any vehicles which might cross into its field of fire.
